Overview

With over three decades of global hands-on experience in numerous aspects of intellectual property law, George Repper has a reputation as being both a highly-skilled patent prosecutor, procuring patent protection rights around the world, as well as a persuasive, compelling, and successful advocate when those rights are challenged. He regularly advises and counsels clients on all aspects of intellectual property protection, and vigorously represents clients in intellectual property disputes.

As a patent prosecutor, he brings a singularly strategic perspective to his work, identifying the strongest possible aspect of his client’s technology. This can include developing the architecture of large, highly complex patent portfolios, often in many jurisdictions simultaneously. As an advocate, George is known as a knowledgeable, tenacious, and vehement defender of his clients’ interests. Admitted to practice before both U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, George has considerable experience in handling USPTO proceedings and successfully arguing numerous appeals. He has particular expertise in analyzing patent validity and infringement issues. He regularly advises clients on intellectual property infringement litigation, infringement liability, protection of proprietary information, and due diligence.

In connection with this work, he also has extensive experience with acquisitions, licensing, contractual arrangements, and a wide range of other business arrangements and situations. George is regularly involved in international negotiations, consulting, research, and analysis on behalf of clients in North America, Europe, and South America, including the formation of new companies and facilitating transactions. His extensive experience in these regions is augmented by his considerable work in obtaining and defending intellectual property rights in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Africa.

George’s technical background is equally broad. A partial list of the technologies with which he has knowledge and first-hand experience includes biotechnology, therapeutic and diagnostic pharmaceuticals, hydrocarbon extraction technology, deep sea oil and gas withdrawal and control, high security document and identification technology, cutting-edge agricultural and mining equipment, precision optical technology, contaminant reclamation and containment technology, fiber optics, lasers and optical scanning devices, energy exchange technology, audio and video technology, computer technology, and food science. Additionally, he has worked extensively in organic chemistry, medical devices and equipment, surgical tools, medical and dental implants, prosthetic devices, tissue replacement, and guided tissue regeneration technology.

In covering the full range of intellectual property protection, including advising, counseling, and defending, George is a trusted advisor to technology-based enterprises around the world.
