2022 Editions of The Best Lawyers in America© and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch Recognize Five Rothwell Figg Attorneys

E. Anthony Figg ("Tony"), Steven Lieberman, Joseph Hynds ("Joe"), and R. Danny Huntington are included in the 28th edition of The Best Lawyers in America©, the oldest and most respected guide to the legal profession. Additionally, Jennifer Maisel ("Jen") is included in the second edition of the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch, recognizing extraordinary lawyers who have been in private practice for less than 10 years.

Now in his 15th year of recognition by Best Lawyers, Tony is listed in the areas of Litigation – Intellectual Property, Litigation – Patent, Patent Law, and Trademark Law. He specializes in intellectual property law, primarily involving the chemical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and biotechnology industries, and his practice focuses on patent litigation and inter partes matters before the PTAB, appeals, ADR, patent procurement, intellectual property licensing and related contract matters, opinions, and counseling. Tony was previously named the Best Lawyers “Lawyer of the Year” in Washington, D.C. for Patent Law in 2019, Litigation- Intellectual Property in 2018, Litigation – Patent in 2013, and Intellectual Property Law in 2011.

Recognized in the area of Litigation – Intellectual Property, Steven is a litigator and counselor whose private law practice encompasses the spectrum of intellectual property law, from patent litigation, especially in the pharmaceutical-medical area, to eCommerce, privacy, and post-grant proceedings. He has successfully represented a wide range of clients, from very large pharmaceutical companies to start-ups and small enterprises. Steve is also an accomplished First Amendment litigator with a strong devotion to issues of constitutional law and religious liberties.

First listed by Best Lawyers in 2010, Joe is recognized in the 2022 edition for Litigation – Intellectual Property, Litigation – Patent, Patent Law, and Trademark Law. He has been practicing across the full spectrum of intellectual property law at Rothwell Figg for over 25 years with a focus on patent infringement litigation. Joe has particular expertise in Hatch-Waxman litigation and related issues, having litigated numerous cases and, in many, serving as lead counsel. He also has participated in numerous appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Joe handles cases covering a broad range of pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology, telecommunications, chemical, e-commerce, and electrical technologies, among others.

Danny, recognized is the areas of Litigation – Intellectual Property, Litigation – Patent, and Patent Law, is involved in all phases of intellectual property law, including United States and foreign patent prosecution, litigation in federal and state courts, licensing, and general client counseling. He has extensive experience with patent interferences and inter partes proceedings at the Patent Office, with particular expertise in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Danny is a former chemist for The Gillette Research Institute.

Jen is recognized once again by Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for Patent Law. An emerging thought leader on the intersection of artificial intelligence and the law, she makes use of her technical background in information science and operations research in her practice focusing on intellectual property and privacy law issues involving cutting edge technology. Her practice encompasses all aspects of intellectual property law including litigation, patent prosecution, transactions, opinions, and counselling. Jen is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional in the United States (CIPP/US) and counsels clients on privacy and data security matters.
