Rothwell Figg partner Jennifer Maisel ("Jen") has been inducted as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation (ABF), a global honorary society of attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars whose public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession. ABF Fellows membership is by invitation only and is limited to one percent of lawyers licensed to practice in a jurisdiction.

Established in 1955, The Fellows of the ABF honors those who have made exceptional contributions to the legal profession and their communities. Fellows are selected based on their reputation, accomplishments, and endorsements from current Fellows. In order to be considered for membership in the Fellows, one must be nominated by an existing Fellow and approved by the Chair(s) of the jurisdiction, the Fellows Officers, and the Board of the American Bar Foundation. The ABF Fellows program aims to foster collaboration among legal professionals and promote research that enhances understanding of legal institutions and processes, ultimately contributing to the improvement of the legal system.

With a degree in Information Science, Systems, and Technology, Jen has hands-on experience developing language models for natural language processing applications, and has been advising clients on IP, data protection, and privacy issues in the space for over ten years at Rothwell Figg. For large corporations and emerging companies, Jen also routinely represents clients with breakthrough innovations in virtual reality, big data, the Internet of Things, privacy, cybersecurity, quantum, and blockchain technologies. Her practice focuses on intellectual property law and litigation, and she is co-chair of the firm's artificial intelligence (AI) practice team.

The ABF was founded in 1952 by the American Bar Association, filling the need for an independent center for interdisciplinary research into the law. With a generous gift from the American Bar Endowment (ABE), an ABA affiliate charity offering insurance products to ABA members, the ABF was built as “a research center for the organized bar of America.” The ABF seeks to expand knowledge and advance justice through innovative, interdisciplinary, and rigorous empirical research on law, legal processes, and legal institutions.
