Overview

Kristen Logan, an associate at the firm, provides research and drafting support to more senior attorneys, and assists them in everything from drafting motions and memoranda to researching arguments and identifying relevant case law.

Any law firm’s work is a combination of careful, diligent research and writing – which the client doesn’t see – and the final product, which they do. Without the former, the latter both can’t happen, and doesn’t meet the quality standards clients expect, and deserve. As an associate, Kristen’s role is to provide the support that enables the firm to provide work product that is thorough, complete, and above all, accurate.

For example, consider preparation of a non-infringement letter. In that situation, Kristen’s first role would be to familiarize herself completely with the client’s technology, competitive situation, market, and so on. By grounding herself in this, she can then prepare a letter that compellingly differentiates a client’s technology from others in the same market.

In this role, Kristen’s strongest asset is her work ethic, which is long-standing and impressive. She is also highly detail-oriented, which is critical as well. In the baseline research work that powers a law firm, nothing can be overlooked, missed, or neglected. Patient, careful, and diligent work is what carries the day.

Kristen is also a gifted writer, with a clear, succinct, and effective style that often results in minimal modification of her work. Finally, she approaches what she does as a challenge and an opportunity. Working with the technology of Rothwell Figg’s clients allows her to utilize her education and her experience to deliver the best possible work product. When she receives a claim chart that asserts, say, patent infringement, her responsibility is to find an argument in the opposite direction – why our client’s product doesn’t infringe. She sees it as a mental exercise specifically targeting her interests and skills, which it is, and believes that the attitude with which she approaches her work has a direct bearing on its quality. Often, Kristen can uncover an innovative, outside-the-box solution or argument that is both effective and innovative. As a researcher, this is part of her job.

One of the things that sets Rothwell Figg apart is teamwork. We have the unique advantage of fielding teams that work together seamlessly, efficiently, and can adapt quickly to whatever occurs in the course of a matter. As a researcher and drafter, Kristen is in the front line of this effort, and an essential member of the team clients rely on and trust.
