Overview

Caitlin Wilmot focuses her practice on patent litigation, post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), patent prosecution, opinions, counseling, and privacy. Her experience covers a broad range of technologies, including chemical, pharmaceutical, electrical, and mechanical. Through her work, Caitlin helps clients anticipate, and be prepared for, all the challenges that may come their way: pitching an invention to potential investors, maintaining a competitive edge through IP enforcement, selling or licensing technology, or conducting due diligence in bringing a product to market. It’s a long list, and Caitlin helps with all of it.

Her work covers the full spectrum of IP representation for her clients. A partial list would include drafting and prosecuting patent applications, filing trademark applications and copyright registrations, consulting on building a robust IP portfolio, advising on IP enforcement, contract review, and all aspects of litigation, including drafting substantive pleadings and motions, preparing expert reports and inventor declarations, and assisting with high-level strategy development.

Caitlin works with clients ranging from young female entrepreneurs and startups to well-known, multinational companies with extensive global patent portfolios. Her clients are in industries ranging from tech to publishing, cryptoeconomics, finance, dental products, media, air quality products, pharmaceuticals, chemicals/glass, semiconductors, and more. Geographically, they are located around the globe, including Boston, Florida, England, India, California, and Canada, to name a few.

As a practitioner, Caitlin thrives on the constant opportunities to learn about new technologies in her practice. As she puts it, every day is like another episode of How Stuff Works. From this perspective, she works with clients by getting into the nitty gritty of their business, and truly understanding their inventions and goals in order to help them proactively plan for and ultimately reach their objectives.

A skilled writer, Caitlin embraces the art of communicating complex concepts in words and thoroughly enjoys the process of conducting meticulous research, outlining arguments and identifying potential flaws, assembling caselaw and legal precedent, and ultimately creating a piece of legal writing that’s effective, elegant, and concise. She augments this with her ability to work closely with clients. Caitlin is particularly skilled at connecting and forming relationships with clients. And as a gifted listener, she loves getting to know her clients on a personal level. Personal, skilled, and possessing boundless energy, Caitlin helps clients protect and monetize their innovations with enthusiasm and devotion to each client matter.
