Brett A. Postal has a wide range of experience across intellectual property law with a particular focus on the chemical, pharmaceutical, biological, and life science technologies. Mr. Postal’s work encompasses a broad spectrum of intellectual property matters, including patent litigation (in both district and appellate court), post-grant proceedings, client counseling, patent prosecution, and opinion work. Mr. Postal has been a member of numerous litigation teams, handling matters in district courts throughout the country as well as before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has experience with post-grant proceedings, including the complexities associated with handling parallel proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board as well as United States federal courts. Mr. Postal also has experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications across a wide array of technologies, and he has experience in client counseling. Mr. Postal is included on the Washington, DC Super Lawyers “Rising Star” list (2014; 2017-2019) and is named a “Rising Star” by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) (2018/2019).
Dr. Aydin H. Harston concentrates his practice on patent litigation, patent prosecution, post-grant proceedings, and patent portfolio evaluations and opinions. Since joining the firm in 2007, Dr. Harston has been involved in intellectual property matters in the context of PTAB proceedings, pharmaceutical litigations, and patent prosecution. Specifically, he has handled over a thousand patent prosecution matters, and routinely handles pre-application counseling, application preparation, worldwide filings, prosecution, appeals, and post-grant procedures. He also handles many aspects of patent litigation from discovery disputes, claim construction issues, expert witness preparations, to trial and appeals. His legal work for clients covers an array of technological fields, including: pharmaceuticals; organic and inorganic chemistry; gene editing; materials science; films, composites, and coatings; medical devices; and mechanical devices. He is rated a Gold Client Champion by Martindale-Hubbell (2018-2019) and is included on the Washington, DC Super Lawyers “Rising Star” list (2017-2019).
