Martin Zoltick and Brian Rosenbloom to Teach Course on Software Patents
On August 7 and 8, 2007, Martin Zoltick and Brian Rosenbloom, Members of the Washington, D.C. Intellectual Property law firm Rothwell, Figg, Ernst and Manbeck, returned for the third consecutive year to teach a course sponsored by the Computer and Telecommunication, Intellectual Property and Litigation Law Sections of the District of Columbia Bar. The course, entitled “Software Patent Primer: Acquisition, Exploitation, Enforcement, and Defense,” was part of the District of Columbia Bar Continuing Legal Education Program. The course focused on software, Internet and business method technologies; the process of acquiring patents and other forms of protection for these technologies; the forms of exploitation available for such technologies through licensing and other types of agreements; and how to prosecute and defend patent infringement suits involving such technologies. Also addressed were various strategies for developing and protecting a patent portfolio of software, Internet and business method technologies, which maximize the scope of protection for licensing and litigation, both domestically and abroad.
